In Vastu Shastra, the main entrance of a home is called the Dwara — the doorway through which all energy, opportunity, and life force enters. Getting this right is perhaps the single most impactful Vastu correction you can make. There are quite many myths about directions for main entrance, Like South and West directions are inauspicious. While we believe that when we divide the floor plan in 16 zones, we get 32 entrances and each one has it's own effects. Generally 3rd and 4th pada of all the four main directions are good. So Always consult a qualified practitioner before dismissing a south-facing or West facing property entirely.
What to Avoid Near the Entrance
The area immediately outside and inside the main door should be kept clean, well-lit, and free from clutter. Specific things to avoid: a toilet directly opposite the entrance, a large tree directly in front blocking the door, and any broken or squeaky door hardware.
The Threshold
The threshold (dehleez) carries deep significance. It should be slightly elevated — a step up into the home symbolises rising prosperity.
